Research & Development

Green Energy Futures is bringing to market a technology concept that utilises wasted energy on railways to accelerate movement towards Electric Vehicles.

Green Energy Future's RailGrid™

Rail infrastructure operators are deploying the latest technology of trains which can convert kinetic energy to electricity when braking, called Regenerative Braking, however current infrastructure does not enable its efficient use. Current infrastructure relies on other trains to be on the same track section to optimally utilise this energy, this is not always the case resulting in wasted energy. The biproduct of this energy loss is the emission of significant amounts of heat into metro system tunnels.

Green Energy Futures RailGrid™ technology utilises cutting edge power conversion technology to utilise all available energy sources for the use in powering Electric Vehicles.

The System Utilises:

Regenerative Braking Energy at peak times

Repurposes rail infrastructure to reduce strain on the National Grid and avoid costly upgrades.

Significant spare capacity in networks e.g non-peak & evening

Increases access to fast, reliable charging in densely populated urban areas.

Redundancy and resilience in the distribution architecture

Supports the swift deployment of EVs, helping achieve zero carbon targets.

Our Vision

A seismic shift in the right direction, away from assessing rail and road travel independently

Governments, policy makers and people around the world are moving towards Electric Vehicles. To completely shift towards EV will require costly, disruptive grid capacity upgrades. GEF utilise current power infrastructure to maximise the efficiency of energy distribution and promote a homogeneous power network for both rail and cars within the city.

Benefits of RailGrid™:

Reduced Carbon Emissions

Enhances the efficiency of Regenerative Braking by capturing and utilising more energy, significantly reducing waste and overall emissions.

Solves National Grid Capacity Issues

Reduces reliance on the constrained National Grid by intelligently utilising existing rail infrastructure to distribute energy more effectively.

Faster EV Expansion

Facilitates the rollout of electric vehicle infrastructure in locations that would otherwise not be viable for traditional charging solutions.

Reduced Energy Requirements

Improves overall energy efficiency across rail networks by ensuring that surplus energy is captured and repurposed rather than wasted.

Cost Effective

Makes use of existing rail infrastructure capacity, preventing the need for expensive National Grid upgrades and reducing long-term capital expenditure.

Adaptable

Designed to be adaptable across all rail infrastructure types, ensuring seamless integration with both existing and future railway systems.

Green Energy Futures will unlock the capabilities of all rail architectures and is turning the challenges of urban EV expansion into a unique opportunity, paving the way for a cleaner, more efficient transportation future.
